Aberfan - Hundreds of mourners attended the funeral yesterday of one of the 15 backpackers killed in a fire at an Australian hostel.

Ms Kelly Symonds (23), who escaped the blaze at the hostel in the small town of Childers, 130 miles north of Brisbane, in June, had to be helped from the small church in Aberfan, south Wales, after the funeral of her best friend, Sarah Williams, the first victim to be buried.

Their other friend, Natalie Morris (28), who also died in the fire, is to be buried in nearby Cefn Coed on Saturday.
