Buenos Aires - An Argentine prison guard held hostage in a 1996 revolt in which seven men were killed and incinerated in prison ovens said yesterday he was fed pies and then told the meat came from butchered inmates.

"You just ate a prisoner," Mr Oscar Iturralde said he was told by one mutinous inmate. He was giving evidence in what has been dubbed "The Trial of the 12 Apostles," after the gang of 12 prisoners who led the bloody uprising.
