Non-medical staff at Tullamore General Hospital, Co Offaly, are to go on strike today over the transfer of 17 workers from a nursing home to the hospital. Some 130 SIPTU members, including maintenance workers, cooks and porters, will take part in the action. All elective admissions to the hospital will be cancelled from 8 a.m. SIPTU has agreed to provide emergency cover.
