A spokesperson for Our Lady's Hospital for Sick Children, Crumlin, declined to comment last night on whether a lung procedure was carried out at the hospital yesterday on a two- year-old boy, whose operation has been postponed four times.

Dillon Smyth (2) was originally due to have fluid removed from his left lung on Monday of last week but the operation was rescheduled for Thursday, Friday and then Saturday. His mother, Ms Lisa Smyth, said the operations were postponed because of a shortage of nursing staff in the intensive care unit.
