Examination of its teeth has proved the horse's head with two bullet holes found at Foley's Glen, three miles from Tralee, is not that of Shergar.

"The teeth are not compatible with those of a five-yearold. They are more those of a horse aged around one and a half years," Mr Des Leadon, head of clinical pathology at the Irish Equine Centre, said.
