Lisbon - Mrs Hillary Clinton, wife of the US President, winding up a five-day trip to Portugal yesterday, was urged to take up the cause of human rights in East Timor, the former Portuguese colony annexed by Indonesia in 1976.

East Timorese women's groups requested her to lobby the UN Secretary General, Mr Kofi Annan, to investigate violations of women's rights in the territory.
