The Minister for Arts, Culture and the Gaeltacht, Mr Michael D Higgins, is expected to sign a directive today assigning conservation status to one million acres of land around the country. The Irish Creamery Milk Suppliers' Association (ICMSA) is seeking discussions with the Department of Tourism and Trade on its proposal that farmers be paid £12 per acre grant for allowing visitors access to designated lands.
