Heroin worth €6 million has been seized by gardaí and Customs officers at Dublin Port.

Some 30 kilograms of the drug was uncovered last night during a search of two trucks which had arrived from Amsterdam.

The heroin was concealed in a consignment of flowers, gardaí said.

The search was part of a planned operation involving officers from the Garda National Bureau of Criminal Investigation, the Garda National Drugs Unit, and the Revenue's Customs Service.

Two men, both Dutch nationals aged 39 and 55, were arrested during an operation.

They are being detained under Section 2 of the Drug Trafficking Act at Store Street Garda Station.
