Drug abuse and supply make a lethal combination, Judge Kieran O'Connor said at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court yesterday when he jailed a man for seven years. Martin O'Reilly (25), of Bunting Road, Drimnagh, Dublin, had pleaded guilty to having 51 deals of heroin for sale or supply at Dolphin's Barn, Rialto, on January 12th, 1996.

Garda Frank O'Neill, of Sundrive Road drug unit, said O'Reilly was jailed for three years in 1991 for supplying drugs. He was also a drug abuser. He told Mr Patrick Marrinan, prosecuting, that a surveillance operation was mounted in the Dolphin's Barn area. O'Reilly was observed transporting drugs and was taken into custody. The drugs were recovered after O'Reilly was arrested and searched in the Garda station.

Judge O'Connor agreed to a plea by Mr Luigi Rea, defending, to allow O'Reilly seek a sentence review in 2 1/2 years.
