Hundreds of boating enthusiasts taking part in the annual Shannon Boat Rally this week have experienced no major difficulties because of lower then normal levels of water in the river.
Heavy rain over the last 24 hours is expected to ease some delays experienced last week by boats in the upper reaches of the river in Leitrim and Roscommon caused by waiting for locks to fill up.
