Training for doctors requires "drastic changes" if health promotion is to have "the emphasis it deserves", according to the chairman of the Irish Health Promotion Hospitals network. Prof Risteard Mulcahy said medical staff had already started to "break new ground" in making the promotion of health a major part of their everyday work with patients. The HPH network aims to make hospitals, centres where the local community can go for advice and encouragement towards a healthier lifestyle.
