THE President of the High Court, Mr Justice Costello, yesterday refused Dublin hackney operators an interlocutory injunction to restrain the Minister of the Environment from interfering with their use of radios or telephones in taxi meter areas.

The operators claimed they were licensed under the Wireless and Telegraphy Acts to use the appliances and it was illogical that they were prevented from doing so by provisions in public service regulations.

The action is by Mintola Ltd with registered offices at Clonard Road, Kimmage; Cab Communications Ltd and Capital City Cabs, both with registered offices at Lower Dominick Street, Dublin; Mr Brian Mullins, managing director of Mintola and Mr Peter Hayes of Rathmines, a driver.
