Two firearms and a quantity of ammunition has been discovered on the grounds of a primary school in Tralee, Co Kerry.

Two firearms and a quantity of ammunition has been discovered on the grounds of a primary school in Tralee, Co Kerry.

The weapons were found wrapped in a blanket and hidden behind the fascia board on the roof of a building at Scoil Mhic Easmainn Rahoonane.

The find is connected to the discovery of a sawn-off shotgun during a Garda raid of a house in the town on Tuesday.

A man (27) has been arrested and is being held at Tralee Garda station.

It is believed the guns found in the school had been stolen in a burglary on a house in Tralee.
