Firearms and ammunition linked to dissident republicans have been recovered by police in Northern Ireland.

Firearms and ammunition linked to dissident republicans have been recovered by police in Northern Ireland.

Two pistols, a shotgun and significant quantity of ammunition were seized following the search of waste ground to the rear of Tarry Drive, Lurgan, Co Armagh.

Police Service of Northern Ireland area commander Chief Inspector Jason Murphy said: “We understand that searches can cause some disruption to the community, however today’s recovery demonstrates the importance of this type of police activity.

“Three firearms have been taken out of circulation today and this can only be a good thing for the people of Lurgan.”
