Three handguns and a quantity of ammunition were found by gardaí in a series of searches in St Mary’s Park in Limerick city yesterday.
The guns and ammunition were found in houses and open ground by gardaí from Mayorstone and Henry Street Garda stations, backed up by a team from the regional crime squad.
A Garda spokesman said the weapons and ammunition have been sent for technical examination to Dublin. No arrests were made.
