Gunmen killed a senior Iraqi Oil Ministry official in Baghdad this morning, officials said.
Hussein Ali, a director general at the Oil Ministry, was shot dead as he left his home in southern Baghdad's Qadissiya district to go to work, the Interior Ministry said.
Guerrillas have killed scores of Iraqi officials to try to undermine Iraq's US-backed interim government.
