GARDAÍ INVESTIGATING the shooting of a man in Dundalk, Co Louth, yesterday are considering the possibility that the attack may have been a case of mistaken identity.

Paddy Costello (51) was wounded in the knee by a shotgun blast as he slept in an armchair in his sitting room.

The attacker entered the house at Fatima Court at about 4am. The victim was taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, where his condition was described as “stable”.
