BRITAIN - Gulf War veterans yesterday demanded proper medical treatment and compensation amid reports that senior army officers failed to act on warnings that troops were spraying pesticides without protective clothing.

Documents obtained by the Independent on Sunday suggest that lack of equipment exposed troops to a known safety risk. Sgt Anthony Worthington told senior officers that men had been forbidden to wear special protective clothing while spraying pesticides because the outfits might be damaged, the paper says.
