Guerrillas killed seven Iraqis in an attack on a National Guard checkpoint south of Baghdad today, a senior US military official said.
He said the attack was in the town of Mahmudiya, scene of regular attacks on Iraqi security forces and foreigners.
Guerrillas often target Iraqi security forces, who they accuse of collaborating with foreign troops in Iraq.
