A Dublin man, Paul Ward, who is serving a life sentence for the murder of journalist Veronica Guerin, is appealing his conviction following a lengthy trial before the non-jury Special Criminal Court two years ago.
Yesterday, the Court of Criminal Appeal gave him permission to make an application in November to extend the grounds of his appeal. Ward (36) was convicted of Ms Guerin's murder in November 1998.
