TRIBUTES were paid to the former Sunday Independent journalist, Ms Veronica Guerin, when she was posthumously named as the "What the Papers Say" Journalist of the Year at a ceremony in London, yesterday, reports Rachel Donnelly, in London.

Accepting the award from Granada Television, the producers of the ITV programme What the Papers Say, her husband, Mr Graham Turley, and son, Cathal, said she had written "with the truth and she achieved much in four years".

Holding the award after the ceremony, Ms Guerin's son said he was "very honoured" to accept it for his mother.
