The Green Party in Galway is campaigning against the involvement of US fighter jets from the giant aircraft carrier, USS John F. Kennedy, in an air display in Salthill.
Party members protested outside a hotel in Galway where the Salthill Festival was being launched yesterday.
"We object to the inclusion of F-14 and F-18 military jets in this year's Salthill Festival", Green Party spokesman Mr Pat Fitzpatrick said.
The festival organisers rejected the criticism.
