Greek police said today they had detained a Serbian citizen wanted by Belgrade authorities for the murder of the country's Prime Minister Zoran Djindjic in March last year.

Police did not release the name of the 34-year-old man detained in Thessaloniki in northern Greece.

He is being held until the prosecutor's office issues an arrest warrant.
