Grand support

LABOUR'S Declan Bree has attracted an unlikely supporter

LABOUR'S Declan Bree has attracted an unlikely supporter. Lord Kilbracken of Killegar, Co Leitrim has written to him on House of Lords writing paper saying he is supporting Lab our in Sligo-Leitrim. While he will be giving him his first preference vote, he writes, he can't come and help him because of pressure of government business in the House of Lords. He is now, he says, on the government benches for the first time in 18 years.

One of the most unusual hazards of canvassing befell a FGer in Laois-Offaly. Seeking votes in the Slieve Blooms the worker was bitten, according to candidate Charlie Flanagan, on the bottom by a gander. Great hilarity all round.
