The voting members of Clontarf Golf Club have voted overwhelmingly in favour of a offer from a developer which could seen them receive over €100,000 in return for agreeing to the sale of 72 acres of land.

Two developers Manor Park Homes and Capel Developments are bidding to purchase the lands and are offering cash and land swap deals.

Tonight some 530 members voted at the club's special general meeting on the Capel offer and 488 were in favour, well in excess of the two-thirds majority required.

The Capel offer includes payments to members, a lump sum to the club and the Portmarnock Links course and facilities in north Co Dublin, which the developer owns.
