Goal said yesterday it believed the death toll in the Afghanistan earthquake may now be as high as 4,500, with 15,000 homeless.
A Goal team will leave Dublin today to assess the needs of the quake area and decide what it can do to help. The Irish Red Cross has released £20,000 from its emergency relief fund for the victims of the quake.
