Nearly a thousand students from all over Ireland yesterday left for a ferry and train "race" to Manchester in an effort to raise £80,000 for GOAL and Self-Help Development International projects in Africa.

They are travelling on a ferry and train specially chartered from Stena Line and Regional Railways NW.
