A young German woman who fell 200 feet while climbing in Glendalough, Co Wicklow, on Sunday was in a "comfortable and stable" condition in St Vincent's Hospital yesterday. The woman suffered multiple injuries but was able to speak by telephone on Sunday with her English boyfriend. He is in a "stable" condition in St Columcille's Hospital, Loughlinstown, after suffering injuries while trying to rescue his girlfriend.

The woman fell while walking close to the Spink, a deep gully close to the side of the cliff on the south side of the mountain, near St Kevin's Bed.
