Edinburgh - A 13-year-old girl was in hospital last night with deep burns from head to foot after setting herself alight while sniffing petrol fumes.

Angela Stevenson went up in flames when she lit a cigarette and caught the flame of a lighter on her clothes where she had accidentally spilled some petrol. The second-year pupil at Beath High School in Dunfermline was taken to the local Queen Margaret Hospital yesterday but was last night in Edinburgh's Royal Hospital for Sick Children.
