A nine-year-old girl seen acting suspiciously in a Dublin store has failed in a claim for up to £30,000 damages for alleged wrongful arrest by security staff.

Judge Kevin Haugh heard in the Circuit Civil Court that Joy Dwyer, of Mary's Lane, Dublin, was detained after leaving Roche's Stores with two sisters, Amanda and Natha Bruce, Summerhill, Dublin, aged nine and seven. Searches revealed the Bruce sisters had £101 worth of costume jewellery, but nothing had been found on Joy Dwyer.
