GARDAI in Dundalk are investigating an assault on a 17 year old girl who was dragged from her family home and beaten by up to seven youths at about 11 p.m. on Monday.

Gardai said the girl answered a knock on the back door believing it to be her brother. A man then dragged her out of the house and across waste ground and with up to six others began to assault her. She was kicked on the side of the head and punched in the back before being thrown into a ditch. Gardai said they had no idea of a motive for the attack and were continuing their investigations.
