A nine-year-old girl was killed last night when she was hit by a car in Blessington, Co Wicklow.
The collision occurred about 5.40pm on the N81. The child was was pronounced dead at Naas General Hospital. Meanwhile, gardaí in north Cork are investigating the death of a nurse from Dromina killed on the Mallow to Killarney Road. Joanne Herlihy (22) died when her car was in collision with another car.
