WASHINGTON - US Republicans rallied around Mr, Newt Gingrich yesterday, unanimously nominating him for a second term as speaker of the House of Representatives despite concern about ethics charges surrounding the controversial Georgia conservative. "This is a bittersweet day for me," Mr Gingrich said in accepting the nomination. His stepfather, Robert Gingrich, died of cancer earlier in the day.
