The husband of Co Galway murder victim Mrs Philomena Gillane was yesterday sent forward for trial to the Circuit Criminal Court in Galway on charges of soliciting two men to kill his wife.

Mr Patrick Gillane (34), of Gort, Co Galway, appeared at Galway District Court charged with soliciting two men between January 17th and January 31st, 1994 to murder Mrs Gillane, whose body was found in the boot of a car at Athlone station car park in May 1994.

Judge John Garavan remanded Mr Gillane on bail to Galway Circuit Criminal Court on June 11th.
