A group of masked men attacked the cars of photographers parked outside the home of Ryan Giggs in Worsley, Greater Manchester.

The tyres of the cars were slashed and their body work damaged. Eggs were also thrown.

Press attention on Giggs (37) intensified yesterday when he was named as the married footballer involved in a controversial privacy case.

Liberal Democrat MP John Hemming used parliamentary privilege to name him as the Premier League player who took out an injunction over his alleged relationship with 28-year-old reality TV star Imogen Thomas.

Since then a number of paparazzi photographers have been camped outside Giggs'
home, which he shares with wife, Stacey, and their two children.

Six cars were targeted shortly after 3.20pm in Worsley, Greater Manchester police said.

Several men wearing balaclavas burst out of a Ford Transit van and attacked the vehicles before fleeing the scene.

A police spokesman said officers attended and inquiries are continuing.
