Wildlife officials are trying to determine which species a blue eyeball found by a man at Pompano Beach, north of Fort Lauderdale in Florida came from.

They put the eyeball on ice so it can be analysed by experts.

A spokeswoman said the eyeball is likely to have come from a marine animal, possible candidates include a giant squid, a whale or some type of large fish.
