German hospitalised following Dublin hatchet attack

A German national is in a serious condition in a Dublin hospital following an assault with a hatchet in the city overnight.

A German national is in a serious condition in a Dublin hospital following an assault with a hatchet in the city overnight.

The attack happened shortly before midnight in Bowbridge Place, Kilmainham.

The man, in his late 20s, sustained severe head injuries in the attack.

He is being treated at nearby St James's Hospital where his condition is described as serious although his injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

Nobody has been arrested in connection with the attack.

Gardaí have issued an appeal for anyone who was in the Military Road or Bow Bridge Place area of Kilmainham between 10.30 p.m. and 11 p.m. to contact them at Kilmainham Garda Station.
