Washington - The US army said yesterday it had substantiated charges by the service's most senior female general that she was sexually harassed by a male general in her Pentagon office and that the male general would retire with a reprimand.
"He has requested to retire as of September 1st", an army official said, adding that two-star Maj Gen Larry Smith would probably be allowed to retire at his current rank despite the kissing incident involving Lieut Gen Claudia Kennedy in 1996.
