FINE GAEL will hold an all-day “end of term” review meeting today with a focus on economy and budgetary matters and presentations from senior Ministers.

Media and organisational issues and the controversial policy to introduce gender quotas at the next general election will be discussed. Some party backbenchers spoke out against the policy in the Dáil last month.

The fallout for TDs facing constituency boundary changes will be discussed by the party’s secretary general, Tom Curran. The recommendations of the Constituency Commission report have put a number of Government TDs at risk of losing their seats.

“The Taoiseach will review the parliamentary year and the work of Government done to date,” a source at last night’s parliamentary party meeting said. Minister for Finance Michael Noonan will also make a presentation.

Minister for Health James Reilly’s appearance on a list of debt defaulters was not raised at last night’s meeting of the parliamentary party, as TDs and Senators waited to hear what the Minister would say in the Dáil last night.
