London - Surrogate twins brought into Britain by a homosexual couple have been given indefinite leave to stay but denied British citizenship, the Home Office said yesterday.

The Home Secretary, Mr Jack Straw, has given the babies, born in the US, indefinite leave to remain in Britain. The twins, born to a surrogate mother using the sperm of one of the couple, were denied automatic entry to Britain when they arrived earlier this month.
