The former Late Late Show host has just celebrated his 50th year in broadcasting and now presents a Sunday afternoon radio show on RTÉ Lyric fm.

Previous recipients of the award have included Marian Finucane and Jimmy Magee.

The ninth annual PPI (Phonographic Performance Ireland) awards takes place at the Lyrath Hotel, Kilkenny.
