Gardaí have seized drugs valued at almost €2.5 million following a surveillance operation in Rathcoole, Co Dublin.

Gardaí have seized drugs valued at almost €2.5 million following a surveillance operation in Rathcoole, Co Dublin.

Some 200kg of cannabis herb was found hidden in barrels in the back of a van when a suspected drug dealer, who was being watched by detectives, was stopped and questioned on Tuesday evening.

The man, who is in his 20s, was arrested and taken to Clondalkin Garda station. He has since been before the courts and charged in relation to the find.
