Gardaí seek witnesses to serious assault in Thurles

GARDAÍ ARE appealing for witnesses to a serious assault which has left a man in a critical condition in hospital.

GARDAÍ ARE appealing for witnesses to a serious assault which has left a man in a critical condition in hospital.

The attack took place outside a pub on Mitchell Street, Thurles, Co Tipperary, at about 1.30am yesterday.

The man (22), who is understood to have received facial injuries, was transferred to South Tipperary General Hospital.

Supt Tony Cogan of Thurles Garda station said the scene had been sealed off yesterday and a team had been set up to investigate the incident.

He appealed for witnesses to contact the Garda. “There were a number of people in the area at the time of this incident and we would appeal for anyone who may have witnessed it to come forward.”
