Gardaí in Westmeath have launched a search for a missing girl (17) and her five-month-old son.

Marie McDonagh-Greene and her son John Paul were last seen in Mullingar last Thursday afternoon.

There is no suggestion of foul play, but gardaí say they are becoming increasingly concerned about the pair's welfare.

Ms McDonagh-Greene is five feet, five inches tall, of slim build with brown eyes and reddish brown hair. She was wearing a turquoise hooded top with a front zip and blue jeans.

The baby, who has red hair, was wearing a blue quilted jacket, blue trousers and cream boots.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact Mullingar Garda Station.
