Gardaí have again appealed for information on the death of a man in Dundalk, Co Louth, after a postmortem today confirmed he died of stab wounds.

The body of Stephen Quigley (24) of of Kilkerley, Dundalk, was discovered by a local woman in a lane off Avenue Road close to midnight on December 27th.

The postmortem today was carried out by Deputy State Pathologist Dr Michael Curtis.

Gardaí have opened a murder investigation and have appealed for anyone who was in the Woodbury Gardens or Avenue Road area between and midnight on December 27th to contact them at Dundalk Garda station on 042 9388 400

A maroon-coloured car near the scene was condoned off and examined by the Garda forensic team.

It is believed Mr Quigley may have been in the car before he was attacked or

his body was driven to the estate before being dumped in the alley.
