Gardaí have recovered the handgun used in an attack on a man in Foxdene Park, Clondalkin, Dublin, on Sunday night.

A 30-year-old man is in a critical condition in Tallaght Hospital after he was shot several times in the chest and at least once in the neck in the attack.

Gardaí said he was shot as he got out of a car in which he had been a passenger, in the driveway of a house on Foxdene Park. It is understood he had been living in the house but was originally from Ballyfermot.

The man was not named by gardaí but is said to have been from Ballyfermot and an associate of the Corbally brothers. Paul and Kenneth Corbally were killed in a double gangland execution, in west Dublin in June.
