Gardaí have named the two men who died in separate crashes in Waterford and Roscommon over the weekend.

Ronan McCormack (26) of Oaklawn Drive, Racecourse Road, Roscommon was killed when the car he was driving was involved in a collision with another car on the N61 Athlone to Roscommon Road at 1.20am yesterday.

The driver and passenger of the second car were taken to Roscommon County Hospital. Their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

On Friday evening, William Barnes (82) of Ballyboyle, Stradbally, Co Waterford died in a two-vehicle collision near his home.
