Gardaí make €4.5m drug seizures

Gardaí have seized heroin and cannabis valued at an estimated €4.5 million during planned operations in Dublin and Kerry.

Gardaí have seized heroin and cannabis valued at an estimated €4.5 million during planned operations in Dublin and Kerry.

Members of the Garda National Drug Unit found 20kg of heroin during the search of a vehicle on the M50.

One male in his early 20s is currently being detained at Blanchardstown Garda Station under Section 2 of the Drug Trafficking Act.

He can be detained for a period up to 72 hours.

Two people are being held by gardaí after cannabis resin with an approximate value of €500,000 was recovered in Co Kerry.

About 50 kg of the drug was seized in a planned search carried out in the Dingle area, which was led by members of the local drugs squad.

A man and a woman have been detained in Tralee garda station following the operation.
