Gardai investigate Naas armed robbery

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to an armed robbery at a building society in Naas, Co Kildare today.

A lone raider entered the building society on Poplar Square at 5pm armed with what appeared to be a gun and threatened staff, a Garda statement said.

He made off on foot with a undisclosed sum of cash.

Gardai say the man is 1.85m tall. He wore a red baseball cap, grey tracksuit bottoms and a grey 'hoody' top.

"He ran to the overflow carpark of Superquinn discarded the cap and hoody and drove away in a black four-door saloon-type car in the direction on Friary Road," the Garda statement added.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or who can identify the man described is asked to ring the gardaí in Naas on 045 884300.
