Gardaí are investigating the death of a man in Ballybrittas, Co Laois, last night.
Gardaí were called to a house in the village at around 10.40pm last night, and the victim (55) was found dead inside.
A woman (53) was taken from the house to the Midlands Regional Hospital, Portlaoise, with non life-threatening injuries.
Gardaí have sealed off the scene, and the State Pathologist has been notified.
